Into the Chute

The granite cliffs that surround and support Pemaquid Point Lighthouse resemble fingers jutting out into the sea. Over the centuries the ocean waves have carved smooth chutes between the higher ridges of the rocky outcrops. These ridges themselves are weaterbeaten, potmarked and after a wave washes over them riddled with tide pools. In this piece the crashing wave embodies the power and constancy of the ocean on the Maine coast. Pemaquid Point,  Maine.
